shaberdean
Although the time in each day that we share together is shorter than it has ever been, I reminded myself that recording these sweet moments here brings me joy. These snapshots help me look back and say despite the busyness, the uncertainty, the stress- life this week was good and full and just the way God created it to be.
Lillie has a lot to say these days, but mostly only when she is comfortable with everyone in the room. She is a shy little lamb, with a big sense of humor.
She is petite, very polite in public and timid in uncertain situations. But when she lets you in to her little world she has a BIG sense of humor, lots of jokes and an affinity for laughter. She is very observant and seems to have an incredible memory. I see her being one of those quiet beautiful women who always opens her mouth with a purpose - whether it to be to spread joy or wisdom.
Each morning we spend about an hour in the car together on the way to "her work" as she has come to call school. Although I dread the hour and half dance of weaving traffic, hot coffee, car seats and the pavement that takes me first to their school and then to work - I have begun to love the conversations that Lillie and I share.
She looks out the window and just talks. I listen, laugh and ask questions.
Recently, she has begun telling me about her dog and "tat" - or cat. Lillie's (pretend, as she will tell you) dog is named Sarah. Sarah is white and often barks or whines like Sugar and Spike at Mimi's house. Although her "tat's" name changes regularly from "dotodo" to "lumpadump" - he is always black and says meowwww.
Lillie likes to make up words. She says "shaberdean" frequently. I cannot quiet place its meaning but it is almost an "uh oh" word.
Airplanes. We talk about airplanes a lot - and how sometimes Daddy goes to work on airplanes. The spring is business trip time in our family. Yesterday Lillie demanded that I get Daddy on the phone so she could ask him to pick her up at school in his airplane. I cannot wait until he follows through on that promise. Right after he sells that company I suppose.
Other topics include friends from school, Mary Hardin's boogers, squeezeese, dry skin, her pink room Gram painted, and running.
Lillie calls her sneaks her running shoes - because Mommy and Daddy have running shoes. A few nights ago, Lillie looked down at her shoes and said, "Well I've got my running shoes on - I've got to RUN!" And she did laps around our house until she absolutely wore herself out.
My sweet little Lilliebear brings me such joy. In so many ways she reminds me of myself. She is teaching me that although her fears are honest, and not hidden, so too are her joys.
