Yes, in fact, I did have a two week vacation. No, I did not go anywhere. Yes, I finally unpacked all the boxes. No, I do not feel like I got to spend enough time with my girls. But, yes, I am extremely grateful for the respite.
Now I'm back to spending my summer days in a college town. Sometimes it feels slow and sleepy, but mostly just relaxed.
Mary Hardin turned 10 months old on April 20th. Here are the photos. Brad took these - hence the diaper and the hair. None the less, it is documented.
She has started to take her first steps. She can walk about 5 or 6 steps in between two people. There have been reports of over 15 steps from school. I think she has more reasons to walk at school - I tend to carry her. She is eating like an absolute CHAMP! We have hesitated to change anything or trying anything in the food department because things are going so well. But yes, I know it is about that time. I need to get brave fast.
Mary Hardin is sweet sweet sweet - but I could not tell her story of this month without mentioning her attitude. She is a drama queen, plain and simple. She has realized that if she cries enough that eventually her mama will resurface. I have been paged out of a new church two Sunday's in a row after a 25 minute crying spells only to have her giggle when I pick her up. She has this cry that I can tell that she isn't really physically hurt, her pride is just hurt. She uses it when Lillie snatches a toy from her, when she wants to be held or we she just wants to be heard. My mom calls her Sarah Bernhardt.
And I'm happy to say she has a nursery. Not that it really matters. What does matter is that we are all sleeping much better now that she has her own room. And I feel less guilty that she isn't sleeping in the bathroom. But mostly her room makes me feel happy. It is just enough. I love it.
