a reunion- of sorts
Brad and I were able to make the stars align to have brief reunions of sorts. Well, it was a weekend of good 'olde friends.
For those of you who don't know Brad is from Maryland- Baltimore to be exact. Most people who have ever spoken to Brad know he is from Baltimore. Brad loves Baltimore. Two reasons Brad loves Baltimore... this guy (Dan) and Loyola (his high school).
Dan is awesome. During this most recent trip, as Dan was leaving our home to head back to "the promise land" he said, "Megan, when I met you I knew you were right for Brad." Of course, I asked how did he know that so quickly. Frankly, I wasn't sure for quite some time. Dan said that he was confident that I could put Brad in his place for the rest of his life- just as he had done up until the wedding.
Interestingly, the third party in the above photo (Lillie) has taken over that job. Nothing like dirty diapers, screaming and 6:30am to humble a man.
I'd be amiss not to mention Brad's second Baltimore love- Loyola. Brad's friends from Loyola were possibly/probably the very reason that I stuck around long enough to realize that I actually did love this man. I met a few of Brad's near and dear friends from high school on my first trip to Baltimore. We went to a bar and shared a few beers. It was amazing- Brad had actually been a pretty normal guy in high school. Now, I really shouldn't get started on those guys' current life situation. Anyone looking for a good looking, Baltimore loving, hard working, party going bachelor? Apparently, when you are from Baltimore, being married with a 7 month old at 27 isn't suppose to be in the cards. I know guys, maybe I pulled the goalie...
A sweet reunion with some of my high school friends took me back. We enjoyed doing nothing together, just like we always did in high school. In high school we did a ton of hanging out at people's houses, in the Goodberry's parking lot, and outside in random places (Green Road- anyone?). We seemed to always have more to say to each other than was possible in one night. Although there was never a dull moment, I'm not really sure what was so exciting. Regardless, I remember most of it as worry free and happy. I'm sure my mom would tell it a slightly different way, but I'd like to remember the glass as more than half-full.
Good 'olde friends are so dear to our family's hearts. Just something about those people who are a part of our past, present and future.
