Stone

Arlington National Cemetery was stunning blanketed in snow.   It was free from the noise of tourist and tour buses.  It was free from the vibrant colors of a well manicured lawn and carefully placed flowers.

As I looked across the cemetery, the void of noise and colors was filled with thought.

I am beyond thankful for the people that rest beneath these stones.  I am proud of my grandpa and brad's grandpa, whose legacy's of service are etched in stone here.  These people have honorably given their lives to make our lives better.  In many cases, these man and women have chosen service over self.

The thought I walked away with.... Because of the clarity I gained in this place of death, I will strive to choose service over self in life.
