Mary Hardin's arrival
Mary Hardin was due to make her arrival on Father's day - June 19th. As that special day came and went I was a bit sad.... the best Father's day gift ever hadn't arrived on time.
On Monday morning (June 20), I had a pre-scheduled doctor's appointment. Mary Hardin wasn't doing a lot moving and grooving at this point so the doctor put me on a monitor that would monitor her movement and also any contractions. After about an hour Mary Hardin hadn't moved but one or two times and I only had a couple mild contractions. I left the doctor's office around 11am at 2 cm. dilated.
Luckily my mom had taken off work to spend the day with me and we went home to grab some lunch. By about 12:30 I called the doctor again because I was continuing to have irregular contractions - the doctor's were out to lunch. Go figure. Then about 1:30 my mom suggested we just go to the office to have things checked out. I agreed and my mom took me to the doctor's and we sent Brad to a work meeting. The last thing he said to me before the meeting was "There is no way you are going to have this baby in the next 5 hours". And I agreed to see him after work!
Meanwhile, we got to the doctor's around 2pm - to my surprise I was 5 to 6 cm. dilated and sent directly to the hospital.
We met Brad at the hospital and got all checked-in by 3:30. Still 5 to 6 cm. and irregular contractions.
At 6:03pm we were blessed to welcome Mary Hardin into the world - 7 lbs 14 ounces, 19 3/4 inches long! What a precious gift from above.
