memorial day

This Memorial Day we spent close to home - and had an absolute blast!  In the morning we celebrate Summerfield North style and in the afternoon we made it to a Durham Bulls game.

For 18 years, Summerfield North has been pulling of a pretty cool little parade and pool party to celebrate Memorial Day.  This year's parade was complete with fire trucks, politicians, Wooley the Bull, Muddy the Mudcat, NC State mascots and recently married Mr. & Mrs. Wulf, and 500 neighborhood bikes and stroller walkers.  Although Lillie was a bit unsure of it all - she was definitely captivated by the excitement.

Brad and Lillie walked in the parade and mom and I met them up at the pool for a cookout lunch and a little swimming.   Lillie loves the water and is an excellent bubble blower!

And oh by the way, that is me in a bathing suit at 37 weeks pregnant - never thought I would allow that to be captured on film...

On the way out of the pool, Brad had a dream come true - a snowball stand right here at home.  Apparently Baltimore has a plethora of snowball stands and this was a summer time family favorite.  Blue sky with whip-cream on top?  The snowball stand also had this weird flavor called Egg Custard... I wonder what that tastes like?

Lillie shared his love of snowballs with Lillie right before naptime :).

So, we left Lillie with Mimi and headed home to get cleaned up for the Bulls game.  Mimi hung out with Lillie bear and we enjoyed an adult evening at the ballpark with the gang from Windsor Circle!

Happy Memorial Day - and thank you to all those who have and will serve our country.
