big girl bed

As we made the move to our new home, Lillie made the move to a big girl bed!  We have been blessed - that is all I can say.  The transition to the big girl bed has been going so well that I have been terrified to mention it publicly.

What I will say is that since Lillie was one year old she has been sleeping on basically a yoga mat at school every day for her nap (and I wonder while she only sleeps for an hour during the day!!).  But, I think that training made for a seamless transition from the crib to bed.

In all actuality, I think Lillie does better in her big girl bed.  She goes to sleep more quickly and cries less.  We did put a child proof lock on her closet door and turned her door knob around to her bedroom.  And yes, we lock our child in her room at night.  But, she doesn't ever seem to get up in the middle of the night.  She sleeps all the way through and in the morning, she lets us know when she is ready to get up - usually at 6am.

Nap time has been a bit more interesting but still going great.  As the past couple of weeks have gone only, the only thing that has been happening is Lillie chooses to play in her from for 20 to 30 minutes when we first tell her it is time to nap.  She quietly sneaks out of her bed, after we leave, grabs a toy and brings it back to bed.  Then she plays contently until she is ready to fall asleep.  I'm not sure how everyone would feel about this habit, but Brad and I think it is great!  So that is that.

Her big girl bed is a full sized box spring and mattress on the floor, with no gaurd rails.  She does have pillows and a comforter, but she chooses to sleep creatively and we cover her with a baby blanket after she is asleep.  Currently, she is sleeping with Baby Day (her baby doll), Go Dog Go and her bunny.  Needless to say, she likes her lovies!

Check her out on her first night in the big girl bed - May 12.  I love this because this is how she used to sleep as a baby.

remember...

Here's hoping she continues to enjoy the big girl bed even when we have a crying baby in the room with mommy and daddy!
