Thanksgiving 2011
Thanksgiving 2011 was served with an appetizer of fever, and sides including 3 pink eyes, 2 ear infections, 3 runny noses and 3 icky coughs. Delish.
Lillie started in on it the Saturday before Thanksgiving with a fever that lasted 5 days. She was a trooper. She visited the doctor twice in one day, made it through an afternoon at work with mommy, and endured eye drops every 3 hours for a week. It was a lot for a two year old. Honestly, this is the sickest I have ever seen her. It scared me on many occasions - the constant fever, the red tinged tears, the waking up screaming 11 times during the middle of the night.
Then on Wednesday I started with a runny nose, sinus pressure, aches and rounded out this past weekend with the cough.
Mary Hardin started in on the cough on Thursday. Her nose is runny, her eye is icky- but she is still smiling. Always smiling.
Brad has managed to stay well - PRAISE. Seriously, he has been there for us. And I've done my best to keep everyone separate, sanitize and to stay sane.
As far as Thanksgiving goes, I managed to sneak out of the house on Thursday with Mary Hardin to visit with her Great Grandmother Gilchrist and family for a quick lunch. Later that evening, my mom made us our very own turkey - to go with the sides and cookie I confiscated from the family celebration. And I made Brad his very own "Hardin Family All Spice pumpkin pie" and we called that Thanksgiving!
Great Grandmother Gilchrist (Betty, my dad's mom) and Mary Hardin.
Absolutely, one hundred percent, the same lips. Look closely!
All that being said, we have a lot to be thankful for in 2011. We have a lot to be thankful for.
1 Chronicles 29:13 “Now, our God, we give You thanks, and praise Your Glorious Name.”
